TOWER DEFENSE - Lost Earth

Tower Defense by COM2US (developed INOTIA 4)

Description:
I know there are too many tower defense games out there but TowerDefense by COM2US is one of the best. The game features action, strategy and puzzle not like other TD games there that focus only in pure defense. This a tower defense in a whole new level.
The game features over 40 campaign maps, 7 challenge maps and special missions. The game also have over 10 enemy units with different skills and speed, you can select 6 out of the 9 towers available with different abilities and 4 special weapons like my favorite gravity shift. There are also different world themes including desert, mountains, ice land, lava craters and more which will not be boring to play because of those sceneries.

GAME PLAY
In search of resources that are no longer provided on Earth, you followed a probe released by humans’ years ago in hopes of discovering an alternative planet. Take command of towers with special weapons to hold your defense against endless waves of enemies on the hostile alien planet.
The story line is about the survival of human kind by discovering an alternative planet to live but destroying the aliens that who are only defending their home planet. LOL. I’m not on the aliens side but that’s how it looks to me. Anyway, the game features campaign, challenge mode and special missions.

In the campaign mode you will start the story of landing on a new planet and acquiring that planet but you need to protect your home base from the wave of monsters.
Campaign Mode

You can see here that the map has a good look and very good design.
When you start the campaign mode you need to select what part of the map you must clear first. The other location on the map will not be playable until you clear the first one, reasonable, because that is how the story goes there are no shorcuts when clearing a planet with aliens. Poor aliens.
Three modes, easy, normal and hard. I always play in hard mode and i think you should too because that is how you will feel the intensity of the game.
When you click a location in the map, it is shown what game type it is, how many waves, what your special weapon is, amount of resources and entering the location will tell you what kind of monsters you will be facing.  You just need to memorize what type of monsters you are facing to prepare what kind of towers you will be using. You may also use power ups and use your gems that you can earn after finishing a part of the map. The power ups are good for one map only after you finish that part of the map the power up you purchased will have no more effect on the next location.

You don’t have to buy gems with money because I think you don’t even need to buy gems for those power ups, those are free in game and in my case I haven’t use the power ups yet even though I am always on hard mode but sometimes if I can’t beat the map I lower the level to normal and I will come back to it later for hard mode.  You can beat the game without paying anything but it’s hard to do and you need a lot of patience.

Challenge mode
The challenge mode is almost about the mini boss or boss monsters, you just need to outsmart them and defeat them using all you've got. Put strategical towers or block their paths to make them turn around again, you just need to think of a way to defeat them. Like on the first challenge map you just need to block the path of the mini boss and build cheap towers to fight it and make sure you will have enough funds to build towers to block its path.

GAME TYPES

There are four game types in the game which include attack, gather, survive and of course defense.
Defense – Obviously the main game type of Tower Defense, to defend your home base from the monsters where you are starting to build another place to live in.
Gather – You need to gather the required resources before completing this map, so there will be unlimited waves of monsters coming to you.  The faster you gather the required resources the better because the more waves of monster the tougher they become.
Survive – Here you will be given a specified time and face the unlimited waves of monsters. Like gathering resources, the more waves of monster the tougher they become so upgrade those towers as soon as possible. For example you will be given 10 minutes of gameplay with unlimited wave of monsters.

Attack – You will need to move your towers near an enemy boss or line of enemy which include destroying rocks or mountains and of course you will do that while fighting the unlimited wave of monsters. The longer it takes the tougher the monsters and enemy boss become.

SPECIAL WEAPONS
Each map will have a special weapon for you to use. I haven’t seen it regenerate so it’s maybe a one time use per map. I rarely use these special weapons except when the special weapon is gravity shift; I am having fun to shift the gravity by tilting your device.  The special weapons are Poison Gas, Nuclear Blast, Bomber and Gravity shift.
Poison Gas – used by tilting your device to move the cloud of poisonous green gas. The enemies covered by the gas will be damaged.

Gravity Shift is also used by tilting your device and here you can control the gravity by tilting where the arrow are pointing. The monsters should be against the arrows  to make them slow down. You can use this in situations where there are a lot of monsters and slow them down on an area with alot of your upgraded towers.  The problem here is when other monsters in another lane that goes with flow of the arrow, they will speed up rather than slowing down. I cannot get a picture of this because i'm enjoying this so much.
Nuclear Blast is used by pointing on your screen where you want the nuclear blast to go.  Once you tap your screen it is locked there and will have a timer, so you need to be careful where to place the nuclear because you can't move this afterwards.  Though the nuclear blast cannot be move and fixed, this has a wide spread of damage. I can't get a picture of it though because i can't time it correctly. Well here, atleat i tried.

Bomber, is used by tapping the plane bomber to where you want the bombeer to go and tapping it again to release the bombs. Remember to tap the plane because this do not automatically drop the bombs and you can still change the plane's location.

TOWERS
In this game you can choose 6 towers from the 9 towers available in the game, so observe the monsters and choose your towers carefully.
Cannon - your first tower and i think the most usable tower in the game, i usually upgrade this to level 2 as soon as possible.
Scout - a cheaper version of the cannon with a wider range but with a lower damage
Splash - Extra damage to groups, i place this near the corners for those Imps (twin like monsters) and tumblers which are slow around the corners and hills  that files up in those corners.
Laser - best for enemies moving in straight line because the laser beam piercesthrough the  enemy lines and have a wider range
Slow - what do you think? of course to slow enemies. Used this for monsters like grizzly because of their tough body and for the spawn. Place this on the entrance of the map.
Rocket - like a Splash tower with higher damage rate but more expensive
         Generator - produces resources

TIPS / STRATEGY
  • Put a tower where it can rotate/fire at 360 degrees.

Like in this example, you can see that i only have one tower and the first wave are those speedy bastards but even though they slipped through my tower on the first lane, i got them on the second lane.  Now this strategy depends on how long the lane will be, if that lane is not long enough you will need another tower on the next lane.

  • In the start, do not place towers beside each other.
Depending on the situation but if like in the first example, I place an X mark to where you should place an additional tower so you can destroy the stones beside it and gain additional resources. You can destroy stones/rocks by tapping on them, the towers near them will automatically attack the rocks you selected. Be careful on this one because the towers will not stop attacking the rocks until you tap the rocks again. In this strategy, you will have one attacker and one harvester for additional resources.

  • Install towers behind the monsters route. Do not focus your towers on your front because there are monsters that are fast enough to pass your defenses like the medic.
  • Upgrade those towers as fast as possible.
  • Use the Slow towers near the entrance of the of the monsters.
  • When starting a mission there are sometimes fixed towers that cannot be removed, meaning you cannot finish this mission without this and the game is trying to teach you how to use/where to place the specific towers.
  • Read the tips every mission given by the game itself.
In this picture you can see that the game gave an example by placing a Laser tower in that specific spot to gain advantage on the given map.  By tapping the rock in front of them, the two laser towers attack the rock (even though they cannot break rocks) and also hit the incoming enemies.
Cons:
  • Crashing on some devices - what game do not crash, all games need improvements.
  • Hard on clicking near the edges of the screen

Overall:

Tower Defense - Lost Earth is a polished game in terms of graphics, design, and audio.  I think this is the best tower defense game that i played so far. Very enjoyable and I highly recommend this game.
